aDaM'S FiLMoGRaPHY...
Other than being a successful singer, Adam is also a successful (?)
actor. In 1986 he caught the bug of acting and moved to LA and became an
actor. A smart move? You'll decide after seeing his movies or t.v. shows.
And again, an apology. Not all of the movies are here, only the ones
that I've seen, and that's not much. If you've seen one and you want to
comment, to write a summary or whatever, send
it to me and I'll put here!
So where have we seen
him?
The complete appearances list...
1978 - Jubilee:
Summary: In 1478 queen Elizabeth I asks her future
teller to tell her what's going to happen 500 years from that day (1978
to those who are not too good with math...) in England. Well, he brought
her to that year, and there she sees mayhem and chaos... Anarchy rules
everywhere, Punks rules the streets, and Buckingham Palace is a recording
studio... what a shame.
The movie is not easy to follow, but if Adam says it's good... well
it's worth a watch. On the other hand, he was in this movie, I don't think
that he'd say about one of his movie that it's bad...
Where can you find Adam in all of this mess?
Adam is doing the character "Kid". He's a little punk singer
that meets a girl that happens to have lots of connections (With Borgia
Ginz, the 'ruler' of this whole mayhem). If you have troubles finding him
(or you want to make sure that what you see is right... ;) ), Adam is that
little dude with the glasses, one black eye and the eyebrow above it is
red. Well, he looks like this:
cute,
huh?
What do you need to know about this movie?
It's Adam's first ever movie.
Adam was only 23 while making this movie.
Adam says that he didn't act at all. The way he was in the movie is
also the way he was in real life.
His girlfriend/manager Jordan got him this part.
Jordan is the one doing Amyl Niterate (Tall, spiky blond hair, make-up)
She actually got the part to Adam And The Ants, and you can hear them
play two songs: Deutscher Girls, and
Plastic Surgery.
While filming the Plastic Surgery
part, Adam dislocated his knee. (You just have to see the way he performs
there... he's basically rolling on the floor the whole song...)
Aside from these two songs with the Ants, he did a number with Toyah
Willcox (Mad) called Nine To Five
The band that sings Nine To Five is called The Maneaters.
Adam is so new with movies and was so not into it, he bursts in to
laughter in the middle of a scene where one guy is telling him his life-time
story.
It's very hard not to laugh after you see this kind of thing :)
What do I have to say about this movie?
It's really not very exciting. Except for the Adam parts, of course.
The movie is very violent, is full of sex and sometimes even hard to watch,
but that little boy that calls himself Adam Ant there is so adorable, you
just have to watch! (He's so lost, so confused... meow!!!)
An Adam quotation:
Well, actually Adam doesn't say much. And even if he does, it's not
something that's worth to quote. But I think that his looks and the way
he acts make up for it. :)
Although... there's this thing Crabs say about him when she introduces
him to Borgia Ginz (they are both characters, don't try to understand if
you haven't seen this)
- Crabs: "He's called the Kid, but he's pure sex..."
1981\82 - The
Prince Charming Revue:
Summary: An "Adam And The Ants" touring
show that was taken somewhere around Christmas\ New year of 1981. Featuring
many songs that were recorded by that time and a troupe of African dancers
that pop from time to time and dance a bit.
Where is Adam in all of this?
...
He looks like this:
,
like this:
,
and like this:
.
What do you need to know about it?
- In the concert they play all of the songs that were ever recorded by
the Ants.
- The show took about 3 hours.
- The Revue on the tape is about one hour long.
- The play list is (by correct order):
- Picasso Visita El Planeta De Los Simios
- Five Guns West
- That Voodoo!
- S.E.X
- Scorpios
- Antmusic
- Don't Be Square (Be There)
- Prince Charming
- The Human Beings
- Ants Invasion
- Killer In The Home
- Mowhok
- Dog Eat Dog
- Jolly Roger
- Los Rancheros
- Christian D'or
- Kings Of The Wild Frontier
- an alternative version of Ant Rap
- Physical (You're So)
- Apparently there are four different AUDIO versions of it out there...
- There are three parts to the Revue (or more like three different costumes
Adam wear throughout the Revue): Prince Charming, Ant Warrior, Dandy Highwayman.
- The Dandy Highwayman's set is designed as a pirate's ship.
- At the end of the Revue (and in every concert), while singing Physical,
Adam (take a deep breath girls!) takes off his shirt and presents his
hair-free-chest and gorgeous shoulders to the world (and to the screaming
girls on the front row too).
What do I have to say about it?
It's my favorite live show by the Ants (says a person who only saw
two and heard 3). Once you hear Killer In The Home and Ants Invation and
some more songs in the version played on the Revue, it's very hard for
you to disconnect that and listen to the original version. That's how it
worked for me anyways...
An Adam quotation:
"Thank you!"
1986 - Nomads:
Summary: On one night, a french speaking man (Jean
Charles Pommier, played by Pierce Brosnan) arrives to a hospital. A new
doctor comes to take care of him but he jumps on her and injures her, and
while doing that, he whispers "Ne sont pas sont des Inuits" (they're
not there they're Inuits) to her ear, and dies. After she gets taken care
of and she gets some sleep, she finds out that he now lives in her head
and she can see all of his memories.
Jean tried to find out who are a bunch of punks who are disturbing
him and his house all of the time. He succeeds and they end up killing
him, and the doctor has to deal with it.
Where is Adam in all of this?
Well, it's not easy to find him, but he one of the Inuats. And if you
still haven't found him, he looks like this:
If you still haven't found him. he's the first one that Jean kills.
What do you need to know about this movie?
- It's the second movie Adam made, after a long period of 9 years...
- Adam is the bad guy.
- Adam dies there. But I guess that you already guessed that...
- That's it.
What do I have to say about this movie?
Not bad... not bad at all. The only thing that disturbs me about it
is that YOU DON'T SEE ENOUGH OF ADAM!!! and not only that, HE'S NOT SAYING
A WORD! but it's a good movie and not only I enjoyed it, my brother liked
it too and my brother doesn't like any movie...
An Adam quotation:
Well, like I said, he doesn't say a word. BUT! I found another quotation
from another movie to describe the situation. It's from Four Weddings And
A Funeral:
- Matthew: "Silent, but deadly attractive..."
There you have it.
1987 - Slam
Dance (or Slamdance if you insist...):
Summary: A cartoon artist (Charles Drood) had
an affair with a beautiful prostitute that was trying to get away from
her life. They decide to run away but Drood never shows up. After a while,
she sent him a package and it turns out that she was murdered. Drood has
no idea who does it but whoever did it, he's going through lots of troubles
so that Drood won't know about that prostitute's life. Somehow, Drood becomes
a suspect too and he tries to clear himself of guilt.
Where is Adam in all of this?
Adam is Drood's manager and best friend (Jim Campbell), who turns out
to be later his wife's lover too (The scene that Drood finds out about
Jim/Adam and his wife is amazing: Adam walks into the room with nothing
but a pare of underpants and a weird hat. And boy, HE'S got the looks!!!
Here's half of the looks anyways...) Adam looks
like this:
What do you need to know about this movie?
Nothing really... but I'll let you know as soon as I find something.
What do I have to say about this movie?
Adam definitely could find a better film to act in. The movie is not
very complicated, but it's not very interesting. I mean, Adam is good.
He's very good appose to the other actors, but I'm afraid I lost all track
of the plot somewhere around 45mins from the beginning.
An Adam quotation:
Like in Jubilee, Adam doesn't say much. But he cracks two jokes I thought
it'll be neat to post here as a quote:
Jim: "How many surrealist painters it takes to screw
in a light bulb?"
Drood: "How many?"
Jim: "The fish!"
A bloke goes in an army service store. He says: "Excuse me, have
you got camouflage trousers?" The bloke (i.e. the salesman) says:
"Yeah... But we can't find them!"
1992 - Northern
Exposure:
Summary: Adam is a rock singer (Brad Bonner) that
comes to Alaska to promote his band's new album. While doing a radio show
he gets an idea: to do a movie about him playing with indians in Alaska. ("Something like... 'I *am* the world...'")
Where is Adam in all of this?
He's the star. He looks like this:
What do you need to know about this?
It's a T.V. series about people living in a town called Cicely in Alaska,
US.
Adam smokes there (why do you need to know that? because he's supposed
to be a "Goody Two Shoes".
)
He plays the guitar there "with a bunch of Indians" that are playing the drums. It's kinda noisey and unpleasent. But we're Antpeople! we can take it :)
Adam Quotations:
Shelly: "My name is Shelly, Shelly Tambo..."
Brad: "Tambo? Did I do you on the "Wonderland"
tour?"
Shelly: "Is an upside down smile is a frown? I thought
that maybe was it because you lost Freddy as soon as the album cover went
out."
Brad: "Freddy?"
Shelly: "Your first drummer, Freddy Bonner?... Your
twin?..."
Brad: "Oh, him!"
Chris: "Who were some of your influences? Where
do you come from?"
Brad: "Musically? Chilly Peppers, U2, Pearl Jam
are ok"
Chris: "Considering your heavy distortion, grange
sound, I was wondering if you were influenced by some of the greats. You
know, Hendrix, Tommy Bolin..."
Brad: "Hendrix?..."
Dr. Joel Fleischman: "Can I help you?"
Brad: "Yeah, but if I take my shirt off it'll have
to stay between you and me 'cos I haven't had my chest waxed in weeks!"
Brad: (complaining about his sore wrist) "...And I told Mink about it like a month ago, and he just told me to stop sleeping with my hand under my butt..."
1993 - Love
Bites:
Summary: A young woman (Kendall) lives in a house
which was once owned by a vampire (Zachary Simms) which lives behind her
fire place. One night, he wakes up (after a 100 years of sleep) and tries
to bite Kendall, and she, like every normal woman in this crazy world,
thinks he's a sex offender. ANYWAYS, he ends up staying in her house and
she now has to keep him entertained and to teach him about the innovations
of the new world. He decides he wants to be human again and that will happen
if he'll eat normal food for a year. She takes this mission upon herself
and for a year she takes care of him. NOW, there's Nerissa (Michelle Forbes)
which was Zachary's Vamp lover a 100 years ago. She came back and she wants
Zachary back and now she has to face with Kendall...
Where is Adam in all of this?
He's Zachary Simms! Isn't it great? He's got the leading role! He looks
like this:
What do you need to know about this movie?
- It's based on a play by Malcolm Marmorstein.
- In this movie, he acts with his acting schoolmate: Michelle Forbes.
- According to what he says there, he was born at 1616, came to America
when he was 15, Meaning 1631. He met Nerissa and she bit him on 1688, meaning
when he was 72! Now, is it just me or does he look really good for a 72
yearold?
What do I have to say about this movie?
I first saw this movie waaaaaaaaay before I even knew about Adam, and
when I saw it I had one thing on my mind: I have to record it the next
time it's on. Well, the next time came and I wasn't prepared so then I
thought: I have to find out who this cute Vamp is... He is so funny and
lovely and if you haven't fallen in love with him yet, you'll fall in love
with now.
An Adam Quotations:
Kendall: "Dwight? Dwight Puttnem? oh please say
yes..."
Zachary: "Yes...?"
Kendall: "You bit me!!!"
Zachary: "I'm so slobby sometimes... Let me suck it
up."
"I'm going out now. Until next time, farewell Madam" (Walks
into the closet. Things fall on him, comes out:) "I got lost. Where
did you put the door madam?"
(Trying to fall asleep again, wakes up suddenly:) "What if I should
fall asleep for another century? Madam, if I'm not awaken in the next 5
years, and you have need of this bed, kindly do me a service by opening
the secret door behind the fire place by pushing the upper most left hand
brick. Carry me down to the crib and place me in my coffin. Thank you much."
Kendall: "I'm divorced"
Zachary: "Divorced? You're the first divorced person
I've met!
"I woke up one sunset, she and her coffin were gone."
Zachary: "I wanna have babies!"
Kendall: "YOU can have babies?!"
Zachary: "No, no... Just the sperm part..."
"You are too close to the dish washer. Please step away from the
dish washer or it'll crash your cups."
"The cobwebs are gone! They were hundreds of years old! The spiders
will get evict!"
Zachary: "What's that?"
Kendall: "Milk."
Zachary: "I remember milk..."
Kendall: "How you feel?"
Zachary: *BURRRRP!!!*
A lady jogging: "Hey, where IS your pulse?"
Zachary: "I had it when I came earlier..."
Zachary's answering machine: "Hello, I can't come
to the phone right now - I'm dead." *BEEEEEEEEP!*
"If you'd run a life insurance policy on me right now, I'd probably
collect everyday."
"Same address, same box, 200 years, don't remember YOU knocking
on the lid!"
Kendall: "Go back being a vampire."
Zachary: "What? And miss out Pizza?!"
1996 - Lover's
Knot:
Summary:
There's this couple that was destined by Cupid to be together but somehow
they end up messing it all up in every life time they have together. So
cupid sends an angle to get them together for the last time, and either
they'll be together or he'll break them up forever.
Where is Adam in all of this?
Oh, the shame. Adam's total time in this movie is about 5 minutes...
but you can find him around the 25th minute playing the English writer
Marvell.
(you can guess the next line: ) He looks like this:
What do you need to know about this movie?
- Can't think of anything interesting to say about it...
What do I have to say about this movie?
It's lovely... it's a love story and it's build like a documentary
film. It's nice but it can get really annoying...
An Adam quotation:
Or shall I say, his only quote...
Marvell: "Safe sex?! The man is darfted! I was trying
to bed the wedge! Get what you can while you're young and lusty, that's
my moto. Now, where was I? '...But none I think to there embrace...' 'so
be a love, sit on my face...' HEE! I'm off it!"
1997 - Face
Down:
Summary:
Well, it's a bit complicated, but... A murder was committed in New
York. No one knows who did it. Now, there's a private investigator that
used to be a cop. One day a blonde really flaky young woman (a bad version
of Phoebe from Friends) comes to his office and says that there's a car
following her. She works in the Derek Fry gallery and somehow it all connects
to the murder.
Where is Adam in all of this?
Adam is Derek Fry. The bad guy... whhoooo... but I have to say that
he's a nice bad guy. Very... classy. He looks like this:
What do you need to know about this movie?
- It's Adam's latest movie. But don't think that's the way he looks now,
oh no. We all wish it was so. Take a look in the pictures section to see
what he looks like now.
An Adam quotation:
He doesn't say something funny or smart so I gave up the quote searching
thing.
