So MaNY CoSTuMeS...
As proud Ant warriors, we all just LOVE to dress like Adam, to wear
his make-up, stuff like that. But sometimes you take a picture, you say
"ooh, this is easy to make!", and then find out it's not as easy
as you thought it is. So I'm trying to help you to make your Ant costumes
as easy as possible so you'd have something nice, cheap and original to
wear on Halloween, Carnaval, Purim or the Ant conventions.
Please note, the stuff that are marked with *oPT* are
optional. Meaning, you could pass them and you still look like Adam. And
the "Rating" part is for you to know how easy\hard it is to make.
*= easiest, what are you so excited about?! \ *****=hardest, if you can
do that, I'm going to give you a Nobel Prize for AntFaning and a kiss!
Alright, let's get started.
When the last Ant convention was held in London (unfortunate) I wasn't
there. therefor, I kicked my parents from the house, told them to be out
until late late in the night, made sure the telephone was off the hook,
that the music was loud and went to wear my Ant costume. But oh dear! the
make-up case I had was taken away, so I had to make another costume really
really quick. Guess what I dressed up as? for only a few hours I was

- Notable things: Leather. Lots of it. Red right eyebrow, black right
eye... and did I mention leather?
- What do you have to find and wear in order to be Kid?
- Leather trousers. But since I'm a person who don't touch cows if they're
dead (Come to think of, even if they're alive I don't touch them...) I
took a regular pair of trousers from my dad's closet. If you do what I
did, they have to be brown and fold them at the edges.
- Leather jacket. Biker's jacket will be fine.
- A regular white T-Shirt or it can be one with some sort of print on
it. It really doesn't matter since almost no one sees it.
- Suspenders
- If you want it to look like the Kilt era, just wear a Kilt over the
leather trousers.
- MAKE-UP:
- Put white make-up on your face
- Since I can almost bet on the fact that you won't die your right eyebrow
red, just use a red pencil to colour it. It may look shocking at first,
but after a while you get used to it.
- Use a black eye pencil, or a black eyeshadow all around your right
eye. This too may look like a shock at first, but you'll get used to that
as well.
- And if you can't find a shirt or the jacket, just say that you're Adam
in a concert somewhere around 78...
I had a talk with one of my brother's friends once, and I told him
I like Adam Ant.
"Oh! I know him!" he said happily "He used to dress
like a pirate or something. Yeah, with white line across the nose... no?
Yeah, I remember everyone used to imitate him. Where is he now really?"
What he meant was what we know as the

- Era: Kings Of The Wild Frontier
- Years: 80-81
- Notable things: A pirate's jacket, leather trousers, big feathers in
various colours, napkins and cloths (Or like this friend said when he saw
Adam:"He really went down on his grandma's closet..."), a white
stripe across the nose, braids.
- What do you have to find and wear in order to be an AntWarrior?
- A white blouse, fluffy as possible.
- IF you can find one (and I'm still sure I can, I just haven't looked
in hard enough), a black jacket (I think made of velvet), with golden embroidery
all over it. I think you can find them in stores that sell theatrical accessories
or in theaters. But they probably cost a fortune.
- *oPT* Tie a red bend around your right arm, ON
the jacket.
- *oPT* Attach a big white feather to the right
epaulette, and move it to the back.
- Black leather trousers that are not so tight on your body. It's very
important to all of the costumes except the Prince Charming one and the
Goody Two Shoes one.
- *oPT* Put a belt with a large buckle. And under
it, tie two large cloths: red and white, around your waist.
- *oPT* Take a white cloth and print on it the Antwarrior
logo, and round the edges of it, print Adam And The Ants. Tie it somewhere
around the belt and make sure people can see what's printed.
- *oPT* You're going to need
4 scull shaped rings. Put them on the third and forth finger of each hand.
- Braid the hair on your forehead with red-golden,
light blue-golden and Yellow threads (I use the ones that people use to
wrap presents with. It's cheaper.), but make sure the hair is not seen.
- *oPT* If you have long hair, take a group of hair
from behind your left ear and curl it gently. Take another group and braid
it with the red-golden thread and wrap the curl you made around it.
- MAKE-UP:
- Draw a white stripe across the nose, from one cheek bone to another.
Make it thick and even. (I use a white lipstick and lips-brushes. They're
available in every pharmacy.)
- Use an eye-liner around the eye, not in it.
- There are two versions of which eye shadow you can use: the concerts
version where he uses a dark silver one, and in the pictures he used a
pink\orange one. Make sure it reaches the end of the eyebrow and above
the eyes.
- Draw two crosses on the temples, one on each temple.
- Draw side-burns with a black pencil. It has to be long and to almost
reach the lips, and not too thick!
- Use lip gloss on your lips.
- That's it. Now you're a complete Antwarrior. And if you can't find
a blouse or the jacket, you can always say that you're Adam singing Physical...
It's not often used, it's not very easy to make, it's gorgeous and it's

- Notable things: A black cape, pirate's hat, a white embroidered vest,
a black blouse, a white stripe across the nose.
- What do you have to find and wear in order to be a Dandy Highwayman?
- A black cape, very long, without laces to hold it (Well, actually no
one will notice if there are...)
- A black blouse, fluffy as possible (Or you can take the one you've
used for the Ant warrior and dye it black?)
- *oPT* A white vest with off-white embroidery all
over it. It's very very hard to find, I didn't even think about looking.
But maybe you're like Ant Lady who made one of her own...
- Leather trousers, large buckled belt, these things repeat themselves
about in every costume.
- A pirate's hat. I know it should be optional, but believe me, it's
important. Otherwise, you're just a guy in black clothes and a white stripe
across your nose... You're supposed to find it in any toy store or in costume
shops.
- You still need to braid your hair. Look above
for instructions.
- *oPT* Four rings, scull shaped, look above
for instructions
- MaKe-uP:
- The make-up sorts of repeats itself here too, but here it is anyways:
- Draw a white stripe across the nose, from one cheek bone to another.
Make it thick and even. (I use a white lipstick and lips-brushes. They're
available in every pharmacy)
- Use an eye-liner around the eye, not in it.
- There are two versions of which eye shadow you can use: the concerts
version where he uses a white eyeshadow, the video one is light purple,
very delicate.
- Draw two crosses on the temples, one on each temple.
- Draw side-burns with a black pencil. It has to be long and to almost
reach the lips, and not too thick!
- Use lip gloss on your lips.
- Now you can go out to the streets and scream STaND aND DeLiVeR! since
you're a fully dressed Dandy Highwayman...
On my birthday I invited a couple of my friends over. While I was in
the kitchen, making drinks, they found my Adam Ant records collection and
when I got back I found all of them on the floor and my friends holding
one of them, crying with laughter. "Look at that! he extended
his eye brow!" "And look at that mole under his nose..."
"What is that things he's wearing? it looks like a curtain I had hanged
in my bedroom!" and laughing and laughing. Have you guess what it
was? it's

- Notable things: A blue velvet classy jacket, silver trousers, three
stripes on the right cheek: red, blue, red. High black leather boots.
- What do you have to find and wear in order to be a Prince Charming?
- A navy blue velvet jacket. It has to be very long in a sort of 17th
century figure.
- A 70s style blouse, black with golden stripes, fluffy sleeves
- Silver trousers (tights?), light blue wide belt.
- High, very high boots. Gotta be leather, with a large buckle on them.
- MaKe-uP:
- A little heart above the left eye brow. Blue outline, red inside.
- Three stripes on the right cheek: red, blue, red.
- Draw one sideburn, on the left cheek, not straight like the Ant Warrior's,
but curled.
- A little mole above the lip, left of the nose.
- Extend your right eyebrow upwards and use a violet eye shadow to fill
the gap between it and the eye. Use violet eyeshadow on the left eye as
well.
- Use a red\pink lipstick and brush it with a tad of lipgloss.
- HaiR:
- I think it'll be too much for me to ask you to braid your hair with
pearls like Ads did. I think it'll be the best of you'd just do a little
pony-tail on top of your head. I think that people will get the idea.
- *oPT* If you have long hair you can also try to
make a real long pony-tail on the left\back of your head, and use some
golden rubber bands to hold it.
- Now, don't you ever stop being dandy showing me you're handsome, Prince
Charming!
When I just started with this whole Ant mania, I used to sit a lot in
front of VH1 and wait for them to play Adam Ant. Since I didn't knew how
relatively unknown he is I was actually offended when I saw that they didn't
play any of Adam's videos on an 80s weekend once. Anyways, as I was sitting
in front of the television, talking with two of my friends, one of them
quickly said "aNTeMiSS! hurry! VH1! now! Adam Ant!" quickly
I switched to VH1 and saw my favorite singer in a weird, weird outfit...
"Is that a pink belly shirt he's wearing?..." asked my friend,
bursting in laughter. If you haven't guessed yet, the costume I'm talking
about is

- Notable things: A blue (navy blue) jacket, a short skin colour blouse
tied at the edges, brown leather trousers, yellow leather boots.
- What do you have to find and wear in order to be a Goody Two Shoes?
- The navy blue jacket. If I could find a way to describe it, I would,
but just make sure it has large silver buttons. And if it doesn't, it doesn't
matter too much.
- A pink\skin colour blouse. The sleeves must be short, and it has to
be tied to a knot right above the belly-button.
- On it, take a black bend and tie it like the Boy Scouts do.
- Brown leather trousers, *oPT* on them a white
pistol's belt, with two pockets for two pistols.
- Yellow leather boots, as tacky is possible and on them *oPT*
tie two red bends

- Here Adam makes our lives easy and uses nothing but a blue eye shadow
and lip-gloss.
All of the female Ant fans that are among us, will agree that there's
only one outfit that they wouldn't mind tearing off Adam, on the contrary...
they'd be happy to. This outfit is taken from an album called
